Easy homemade raw almond milk recipe made in the blender.
Have you ever tried almond milk? It’s delicious.
I’ve never been a big milk drinker. So maybe that’s why I love the milk alternatives so much.
I usually buy almond milk. But this homemade almond milk recipe is super simple. So why not make some at home? That way it’s all natural and I know exactly what’s in it.
It’s only two ingredients. You will also need a blender and some way to strain the pulp from the milk. Check out my DIY nut milk bag.
- 1 cup raw almonds, soaked 4 hours or overnight
- 4 cups filtered water
- Place almonds in a bowl, cover with water and soak at least 4 hours or overnight. This will soften them for blending.
- Drain and rinse almonds.
- Put filtered water into the blender.
- Add almonds.
- Blend until throughly combined. If you have a high power blender use the juice setting.
- Place nut milk bag into a pitcher. Pour almond milk into the nut milk bag.
- Close nut milk bag and allow milk to drain through. Squeeze the excess milk from the bag.
Almond milk can be stored in the fridge for at least a few days, probably more like a week. If it lasts that long.
If you can’t find raw almonds, what you are really looking for are almonds that have not been roasted. So even if the package doesn’t say raw as long as they are unroasted you are good to go.
The inside of your nut bag will look like this. You can just flip it inside out, scrap as much of the pulp off as you can. Then you can just rinse the rest off and set it out to dry.
You can save the almond pulp to use in other recipes, such as my Oatmeal Raisin Breakfast Bites, so you don’t have to waste them. Just put it in the fridge until you are ready to use it and then substitute the pulp for ground up almonds.
