This DIY faux leather magnolia inspired teardrop earrings tutorial will have you making cute jewelry like a pro.
Who’s the Fixer Upper fan?
I know. We all are. That’s a silly question.
And who loves Joanna Gaines’ style? Again, I think that’s the majority of us.
She always wears the cutest jewelry. It’s so simple. Like her adorable leather teardrop earrings.
When I saw them I knew I wanted to have some for myself. But I don’t love the price tag. Especially when I know I can do it myself.
So I went to my trusty Cricut Maker.
Although, depending on the material you use you could probably use any type of Cricut machine.
Supplies
Cricut Maker

Leather Tear Drop Earrings Cut File
I made my earrings out of the Cricut Pebbled Faux Leather. To cut that you just need a fine tip blade.
I think they turned out great. Even though they’re not real leather.
I made the earrings by taking a teardrop from the images and sizing it for my earring. Then manipulating it a little bit so it was a little more narrow.
You can do this by unlocking the shape dimensions either up in the toolbar or down in the lower left-hand corner of the shape by clicking on the lock icon.
Then I punched a couple holes for the earring hardware by using the slice function and a small circle.
Then it was time to cut my earrings out. I put the faux leather face down on my mat. You probably could do it either way. It just seemed like the back was a little bit fuzzy and I didn’t want the fibers on my mat.
Be sure to press it down really well. You don’t want pieces moving on you. You might even want to use a brayer to get it good and attached.
Choose the paper-thin leather option from the materials list.
Then load the mat into the machine and press the Cricut button to cut them out.
Once they are cut you want to use a 6 mm open jump ring to put through the holes in the earring.
Add the earring hook and close the jump ring.
I really smashed mine together so that they were kind of oval shaped.
Pull the jump ring up so that the leather is pinched inside it.
Your earring is complete. Repeat the process for the second earring and your pair of earrings is done.
I used a few colors of Cricut’s faux leather that have been in my stash a while, so I’m not 100% sure on the color names.
The pink, however, I recently bought at Hobby Lobby. It’s blush faux leather ribbon and can be found in their ribbon section.
How cute are they? I look like Joanna Gaines now. We could basically be twins. Haha.
I’ve been having a lot of fun making jewelry lately. So stay tuned for some more great tutorials.
