DIY Infinity Scarf

It’s that time again!  Time for another scarf.  This week I’m sharing how to make a super quick and easy scarf.  The DIY Infinity scarf! This scarf is so quick it only took my about 15 minutes to make.  Perfect for a last minute gift.  You only need is half a yard of a fabric, so depending on what you choose it can also be an inexpensive project.  I used a knit, but you could use a fleece or something sheer too.

The first thing you do is fold your fabric in half lengthwise, right sides together.  Pin and sew.  I used a 1/4 inch seam.  I also back stitched that the beginning and end, just for good measure.

Next you are going to stuff one end through the tube and match it up with the other selvage end.  This will keep the right sides together.  Matching up the seams, pin the ends together, with one inside the other.

 

My fabric is a little difficult to tell the right side from the wrong sides in the pictures, but you should see all wrong sides.  When you sew around these edges you’re going to leave a three inch hole.  Then you are going to pull the scarf through the hole and turn the whole thing right side out.

Next you are going to pin the hole closed, with the raw edges of the fabric inside the scarf.

 

To finish the scarf off, you are going to top stitch the hole closed.  You want to make sure that you are only stitching the hole.  If you put it through your machine as pictured above then you will have a large line of stitching on the other side of your scarf.  So put the entire scarf to the left and just stitch the hole closed as close to the edge as possible.  That way you’ll have a little edge inside the scarf.

See how easy that was?  And now we have this super cute scarf.
