This tutorial shows you step by step how to make a noodle bead bracelet with a sliding knot.
Way back in December I decided that I wanted to make a small gift to pass out with my business cards at my first in-person blog conference, Build Your Blog.
The conference was the beginning of February so I had to pick something that would be quick and easy to make. I settled on a simple noodle bead bracelet.
The trick with bracelets is that everyone has a different wrist size. So I wanted to make it adjustable. Thus the sliding knot.
Supplies
Cording
Noodle Beads (They come in antique gold too!)
First I picked out a noodle bead. There were a ton of choices out there. I went with a 3 mm by 50 mm bead.
That gave me a hole size of approximately 2 mm. Then I knew whatever cording I picked needed to fit through 2 mm.
I ended up choosing 1 mm wax cording. It was not my first choice, as I wanted round leather cording, but it was what fit.
The bracelets were simple enough to make and pretty inexpensive since I purchased my materials through eBay.
I purchased my cording from this seller and my noodle beads from this seller. The colors of cording I used were turquoise, fuchsia, golden yellow, and chocolate brown.
I have seen both of these items at local craft stores like Michaels and Hobby Lobby, but I wanted more than a dozen bracelets.
How to tie a sliding knot
I cut my cording about 14 inches. You want to make sure that you have enough overlap to make the sliding knots. Slide on your bead.
First fold the end back to create a loop.
Then wrap the end around the back.
Over the top and around through the bracelet again.
Take the end and put it through the loop. Pull tight.
Trim down the excess, leaving a short tail. Repeat for the other knot.
See? Easy peasy.
I made a bazillion of them. I still have a bazillion of them. I think if I did it again I would attach the bracelets to my business cards so that everyone who picked up a card from the business card table would also get one.
I guess I already have bracelets for my next blog conference.
If you make some I’d love to see them. Share them via social media with the hashtag #ambersimmonsblog.

Love this bracelet! Made one right away. My question is how do you pull the strings together with one hand to make the bracelet tight? I can’t do it by myself.

Thank you. If you turn your wrist so that the knots are facing up you can tighten it with your other hand. Or you can use your mouth.

Thanks so much! I think part of the problem is that I didn’t use waxed cord. I’ll give it another try.
