It has been snowing here off and on for about a week. This is from my living room window. See my newspaper buried there in the snow?
On cold days such as this I want something nice and warm to drink. Sometimes hot cocoa and tea just don’t cut it. That’s when I reach for my favorite warm, citrus drink known as Russian tea. It doesn’t have any actual tea in it, so I am not sure why it’s called Russian Tea. Not only is it warm and delicious, but it’s got a bunch of vitamin C in it, so you can’t go wrong.

This is a lovely recipe and I’m definitely going to try it!I like the idea of the additions you made. Sounds amazing!
But I’ve never seen anyone here in Saint-Petersburg drinking tea with syrup and almond extract and orange juice) Maybe someone is, but it’s not common at all. We usually drink just tea, with sugar and\or lemon. Sometimes fruit\berry preserves (jams, “vareniye”-jam with fruit pieces, “povidlo”- very rich apple\plum jam ) accompany our tea.

This is similar to a drink my neighbor makes here in the summer…we put limes, sugar and almond essence and a dash of angostura bitters…kind of like a twist on the typical lemonade…now that it’s getting a little chilly here in Florida (although no snow here) I can’t wait to try this…I will probably substitute the honey for sugar as we have cut the sugar out of our diet.
