This week I’m sharing this cute little crochet cowl takes one skein of chunky yarn and one hour of your time. It’s all double crochet so it is super simple and perfect for a beginner. What’s not to love about that?
Materials
Super Bulky (I used Lion Brand Hometown USA)
P / 10 mm hook
Yarn needle
ch – chain stitch
dc – double crochet
slst – slip stitch
Pattern
Row 1: Chain 48, slst into first stitch to create a round. Careful not to twist.
Row 2: *Skip 2 stitches and make 5dc into the next stitch. Skip 2 stitches and slst into the next stitch.* Repeat around.
Rows 3 – 7: Slst in the back loop of 3 dc from the previous row. *Skip 2 stitches and make 5dc into the back loop of the slst from the previous row. Skip 2 stitches and slst into the next stitch.* Repeat around. Fasten off. Weave in ends and wear.
Make sure that you’re always crocheting into the back loop of the stitch. That will give you the pretty wavy ridge all the way around.
Lion Brand Hometown USA is becoming a fast favorite of mine.
A) It’s Super Bulky, which I love.
B) It’s mega soft.
C) It’s inexpensive.
I bought this beautiful avocado green, named Oklahoma City Green, for $2.97 at my local Wal-Mart. $3 for a scarf? Umm… yeah. I’ll take that. I actually bought it in a few colors and have been working up some other cute knit and crochet projects. I just love how fast the super bulky works up.
