I’ve read a lot on what to expect as a first time parent. However, being a first time parent it’s hard to translate what I have read to what my needs will be. Naturally that means I will go overboard, as I tend to do with most things. Just ask my husband. When we plan parties, I have enough food prepared to feed 50 people. Good thing we invited 12. Haha. I just want to be absolutely sure that no one leaves hungry and that there is plenty of food to go around.
I have read all the advice. Sleep when the baby sleeps. Drink lots of water. I can totally do that. But what I’m concerned about is that my husband will always have food to eat when he comes home from work, as well as I will have food to eat at home during those first few weeks where I will become a hermit and have 0 energy. I could just say “fend for yourself” but that also means I’ll be at the mercy of whatever drive-thru he decides to hit on the way home. Not ideal.
That is why, now that I have reached the half way mark, I have decided it’s time to start squirreling away food for the winter. I’ve started plotting a master list of all the items I would like to get prepared and frozen so that we can have easy, healthy meals until I can get myself back together enough to actually prepare a meal or set foot inside a grocery store. Now all I need is a big freezer. … Are you reading this Ricky? Please budget for a big freezer asap. Kthxbai.
But until then, I can start stashing my winter acorns at my moms in her big freezer. Let the baking begin this weekend! I’m excited. Now I just have to pick something from my excessive list and gather the supplies. I can’t wait to start sharing what I’m stashing. Stay tuned!
