I love fall. It’s my favorite season. The weather is starting to cool down so that means scarves and sweaters and pumpkin everything!
But even though I love fall, I don’t really have any fall decorations. How can that be? Yeah, I don’t know either. So I decided to do something about it and make some up.
I wanted to create a simple fall banner to go along with the cute leaf garland I made. If you are interested in the leaf garland tutorial it is over at Clarks Condensed.
I created a printable for the banner. It has guide lines to show you where to cut each of the pennants out. So that makes it really easy for you to recreate the banner. Once I printed it out I just cut it out just inside the gray lines, so that I didn’t have lined edges on my pennants.
Then I used a small hole punch to punch holes in each of the top corners. If you are like me, then you want them to be pretty even. So I punched my first hole and then used it to trace where my hole would go on the back of each of the other letters. I used my tracing as a guide when I went to punch the rest of the holes.
After my holes were punched I strung the banner on black and white bakers twine. I didn’t do anything to keep it a set spacing, but you could put a little piece of tape on the back next to the holes to keep the twine from sliding.
Then you just hang it where ever. On the wall. On a fireplace. Where ever strikes your fancy.
I think it’s pretty cute. I love the simplicity of it. And it pairs really well with the leaf garland.
