A few years ago I was cruising around etsy just looking at a little bit of everything. I found one listing that made me stop and say “I need that!”
Who doesn’t need a little Hedwig in their life? So I checked out the listing pictures and made my own.
I gave mine blue eyes because my eyes are blue. I think my turned out great. I even made a couple for friends. With different colored eyes of course.
If you want to make your own you can do as I did and check out the pictures to come up with your own, or you can buy the owl bag pattern from etsy. I don’t believe the pattern is specifically for this owl bag, but you can just make it from whites and grays and add some feathers on the front.
My bag is made from felt and flannel. There are eight feathers cut from gray felt and seven from white. I used pinking shears to cut out the gray ones to give the edges some interest, but you could use regular scissors as well. Since it’s felt, all the stitching on the feathers is purely decorative.
How great would this bag be as a Trick-or-Treat bag for Harry Potter costumes?
Update: It appears that the bag pattern is no longer available from the seller. If you want to make your own please sign up for my mailing list and I will send out an email once the pattern is posted.

I’m looking for the step by step photos of your adorable owl back so I can make it to go with my son’s Harry Potter costume.
