This easy tutorial for how to glam up your faux pumpkins and elevate your fall decor will have your feeling fancy this fall.
For this pumpkin I took yet another styrofoam pumpkin from Dollar Tree but you can use any Faux Pumpkin.
You can see my other examples of projects with this inexpensive styrofoam pumpkin in my faux cement pumpkin and my pearl dripped pumpkin.
Supplies
Faux styrofoam pumpkin
Rust-Oleum American Accents in Canyon Black
Dried pumpkin stems (optional)
Hot Glue gun
Hot glue
Beacon’s Gem Tac
Rhinestones
I decided that I wanted to add a dried pumpkin stem to this one as well so I took the styrofoam stem off before I started spray painting.
For this one, I used Rust-oleum spray paint in canyon black color to give it a nice dark color.
After I gave the pumpkin two or three coats of spray paint and let it dry thoroughly.
This styrofoam pumpkin sprays weird in the first layer or two. You will get complete coverage it just takes a couple of layers.
There was a breeze while mine was drying and some grass got stuck to it.
I ended up with a hole in my spray paint. No worries, we’re going to cover that.
After it was completely dry, I added a dried pumpkin stem to the top using a hot glue gun.
Then I took a bag of black rhinestones that I bought from Jo-Ann’s and, starting at the stem, I glued them to the pumpkin using Beacon’s Gem-Tac.
I went down and around the sides of the pumpkin making it look like the gems were dripping down the sides. Very similar to the pearl dripped pumpkin.
TIP: Gem-Tac is very sticky, and I got glue on my fingers a few times for before I had this idea.
If you do diamond painting you can use your diamond painting tool to help place the rhinestones. SO much easier.
If you smaller rhinestones you could even use some that are from diamond painting.
